Astrid Costume | How To Train Your Dragon
I love my daughter. When she commits to a Halloween costume she doesn’t change her mind. So as I was putting the finishing touches on her costume last year she informed me she wanted to be Astrid for this year. So I had a whole year to mull it over and plan. But of course who needs a year, when you can get it done in one long weekend right?

Viking Birthday Party I Toothless Cake & Loot Bags
Continuing on with the Viking Birthday Party, I didn’t want to go completely over the top with the How to Train your Dragon theme, but including Toothless made my daughter extremely happy. Beautiful cakes are not as hard as you might imagine. Fondant is like making a cake with plasticine, armed with Youtube, a bit of time, and the proper tools, even aspiring cake decorators such as myself can pull one out of a hat. This cake took me 8.5 hours from start to finish.

Viking Training I Distressed Birthday Invitation
Hurray, it’s birthday time again! My daughter Calla is turning 9 and she always chooses a theme. This year she wanted it to be “How to Train Your Dragon” and have it at Laser Quest. I’m not a writer by trade, but I did have fun writing the copy. I’m sure however if you asked a real historian (sorry Dad) I’m sure they would take offence to my misappropriation of some words. My daughter loved it though, and I think that’s what matters most!
