1 Hour Pumpkin Costume | Halloween for babies

This is an easy sewing project, even if you are a novice. It took me less than an hour (after materials were sourced) and the results are fabulous! Who doesn’t love a baby in a pumpkin costume and I guarantee you will get back in loot what you spent on the costume. Happy Sewing!

Toy Story Woody | Halloween Costume

I have to agree with my son that Toy Story is the best movie EVER!  As per annual tradition, we are going to bang those doors as a duo (1st year as monster & witch, 2nd year as Nemo & diver), and he has decided it’s Woody & Jesse. “Score!” I thought, as a cowboy costume is going to be a cakewalk compared to my Nemo challenge last year.

Hat, boots, jeans, belt are all readily available (psssst: $2 cowboy hats at Dollarama must be the best deal around!), but the shirt, vest and gunholster provided enough opportunity for creation.

Cheerful Candy Apples | Hallowe’en Treat – No Corn Syrup

I remember, back in the Dark Ages, when my mom would make candy apples to hand out on Hallowe’en. Of course, you could never do that nowadays (they’d all be tossed by vigilant parents), but I can re-create some old-timey Hallowe’en feel by making candy apples for my kids and the neighbours as a pre-Hallowe’en treat. However, the old-timey thing I didn’t want to revisit was corn syrup (yuck, so bad for you). So I made these without corn syrup, and would be willing to try brown sugar instead of white.

I did have a false start, burning the first batch of candy. I thought I’d be able to do the water test (drop the candy into very cold water, straight from the pot, and it should separate into hard, brittle threads), but I wasn’t sure and wasn’t sure and then, suddenly, it was burnt. I went out and bought a candy thermometer and all was right in the world again.

Black Bird Boo | Halloween Wreath DIY

Halloween. Dangling glow-in-the-dark skulls and cut-of limbs hanging from the mailbox. It’s a classy holiday indeed. For those who want to create some decor that’s a bit more subtle, this Black Bird Wreath is the way to go.

This is another simple craft that we can all manage and won’t break the bank. We are talking 15 minutes of work (and one hour drying time). You won’t need any tools so we could not make this any easier.
