For those of you that have kids who love all things pink and princess-y, this is a project for you! My daughter has been obsessed with mermaids for about six months now. I don’t think it is due to the Disney movie, but who really knows. So I thought I would whip her up a little tail that she could put on her favourite doll.

Hurray, it’s birthday time again! My daughter Calla is turning 9 and she always chooses a theme. This year she wanted it to be “How to Train Your Dragon” and have it at Laser Quest. I’m not a writer by trade, but I did have fun writing the copy. I’m sure however if you asked a real historian (sorry Dad) I’m sure they would take offence to my misappropriation of some words. My daughter loved it though, and I think that’s what matters most!

Last summer, we had our backyard landscaped and a pool put in. During the long and messy yard renovation, our elevated deck provided an excellent view of all the cool diggers and tractors, but it was also a perfect way for our kids to get down to the yard = major danger! I made and installed a gate at the top of the stairs for my own peace of mind. Knowing I could lock the gate and keep my kids up and safe was a huge relief.
