Spice up your life | DIY Kitchen Spice Rack

We have a small kitchen at our house where every nook, cranny and drawer is carefully utilized. When I noticed that our spice drawer was starting to overflow into a second drawer, I started to consider our alternatives. I had seen the wall mounted spice racks before but they were built for 9 or 12 canisters and were too small for the area I had available. I wanted something that would fill the space and carry a decent amount of spices. So I decided to create a spice rack of my own. It turned out to be an easy, affordable way to add some spice (and colour) to my kitchen!

Twiggy Flower Power | Backyard Decor

Here’s a fun and easy way to jazz up your backyard patio. I saw this at a flower store and knew it would be one of those hugely rewarding, super simple and cheap projects. Simply go twig hunting in the park with your kids. Chop up the twigs, build a nest, spray paint, and pop in a plant or flower (I added lavender). Enjoy!

Organic Awesomeness | Vegetable Plots

There is absolutely NOTHING that can beat fresh fruit and veggies from your own garden. No chemicals, no week-on-a-boat transportation, no fake ripening. Just pure goodness from your own soil. And when you hold your first, very own, little tomato in your hands, it’s just like when you held your newborn: tiny and wrinkly, but my god is it the most beautiful thing you have ever seen!

I made my garden plots 3 years ago. I did not read a tutorial. I am not a builder. I am just a mom who is not afraid to get a bunch of 4×4’s and 6 inch nails and, with a “how-hard-can-it-be” attitude, whack the thing together. It is probably my most rewarding DIY project I have ever done. It works, it looks good and I am dying to plan to plant my third harvest and start seeding this month. And, last but not least, my son actually knows how vegetables get “made” and is part of the process from buying the seeds in the store to harvesting. Is there any better way to make your toddler eat his or her greens?
