Backyard Reno | Stone and Glass-Top Patio Table

I decided life would not be worth living without a “cocktail” area in my backyard. Since I am so lucky to have a substantial backyard, I can pretty much do whatever I want here without many size limitations. On the flipside, it has become a multi-year project. But in steady-eddie-style I do a few big projects each year, slowly working my way towards the back of the yard – creating my little slice of heaven in the city, bit by bit. Year 1: patio, dining area and garden plots, year 2: sods and flower beds. This year: a second seating area, named “The Cocktail Area” which provides me with a great excuse to drink cocktails at least a few times a week.

DIY Flower Wall Art | Nursery Decor

In an effort to save money, I had been on the hunt for a DIY art project for the new baby’s (now Brooke’s) room. I did a Google image search and stumbled across this fun blog – It’s Doable: Crafts, Food and Life. Now, like most DIY art projects these days, there are lots of people out there who have created their own flower art using the same technique. I’m sure you could find many variations of this on Pinterest, etc. for inspiration, but  I had my own vision so I didn’t want to be swayed by any other ideas…

What I LOVE about this craft is that it can incorporate as little or as much colour, texture and pattern as you like. While I would love to be able to purchase expensive fabrics for curtains, pillows, etc., it’s just not in the budget. This allows me to introduce colours and patterns into the room without blowing the bank.

Stair Rejuvenation | DIY Living

Gail had recently updated her house, but the stairs were still timeworn and tired. They considered the options – a carpet runner, replacing the risers, etc., but what they really wanted was a modern look that was also functional and easy to clean. So she took on the DIY challenge and decided to redo the stairs herself. And she nailed it! Her stairs have gone from old and worn to clean and modern in only three days time.
