Vintage gift tags

I like projects that reuse items I already have in my house and that are useful in my everyday life. These fun – and useful – gift tags were created from many items I already had on hand and can be used for everything from birthdays to hostess gifts.

It’s no secret that I often lean a little towards the vintage look. For this project, I decided to take a couple of vintage kids books that were destined for my Etsy shop and repurpose them in a different way for these tags. This was a very easy project and my six-year-old was able to help me and get creative in her own way.
- Magazines, old books, flyers, maps — anything that catches your eye and you don’t mind cutting up
- Gift tags – I got mine at Michael’s (similar here)
- String – I had some craft string on hand, but you can find similar at Michael’s or the dollar store
- Glue stick
- Scissors
First, start by cutting out the images and pictures from your books and magazines. I wanted my tags to be filled with the cutouts, but as you can see from my daughter’s work, she preferred to cut out smaller pictures and decorate around them.
Next, glue and trim your cutouts to the tags. Finally, add your string and knot it so that it will stay put until you are ready to use them.
That’s it! Super easy and a nice homemade touch for a gift.
What an awesome idea.
These are incredible! Fantastic idea – I love them!
Thank you so much!
