Four kids, each with multiple pairs of shoes/boots/crocs/sandals = a VERY messy mudroom. In order to keep my sanity, I needed to find a home for all these shoes, rather than have them splayed out all over my main floor!

Sandy shoes and flipflops were lining the entrance of our beach cottage creating a messy little corner in my otherwise perfect space. I do not like the usual plastic trays used in winter time and only found one alternative; a small overpriced metal tray. Not being scared of a bit of sawing and hammering, I decided to create a custom tray that suited my cottage.

A favorite gift of mine (to give and receive!) is jewelry. Now, I’m not really a fine jewelry person. In fact, the only pieces of fine jewelry I own are my wedding ring and my engagement ring, and the necklace my husband gave to me as a gift on our wedding day. My husband knows that I change my jewelry as often as the the weather changes in Franklin (read: often. also read: it’s happening this week).
To keep up with the shifting jewelry winds in my world, I discovered recently that I was just throwing these bobbles about to and fro with no real “home” in mind for them. Thus, I determined that it was time for a jewelry solution, especially for my earrings. The result? A fantastic, do-it-yourself jewelry organizer that was super-duper easy to make!

This new year I set a goal to finally finish setting up my office. I’m a freelance graphic designer so I work both from home and at agencies in-house. When I’m at home I want my office to be a place where I can focus on work. Currently, it’s a catch-all, where we throw clean laundry to fold, store any kids projects we want to keep, hold unused wrapping paper, store crafting supplies. Last year was incredibly busy, so my office has taken over a year to finish. This year, my first project was creating a craft and gift-wrapping area. Since my office is small, the only place I had for it was behind the door.
Below you will find a step-by-step guide to how I created my fabulous crafting and wrapping supplies station. Happy organizing!
