When we were having our first child we looked around for inspiration for artwork. We didn’t know the baby’s sex, so we didn’t want to pigeon-hole ourselves with something too sweet or too boyish. At the time, scrapbooking was pretty huge and I LOVED all of the patterns available. So I came up with this idea for ABC art. I was so excited to get started on my second fondant cake, but I knew flowers and polka dots would not cut it for my six-year-old son. His birthday party theme was rock climbing (see earlier invitation and loot bag posts) so I knew this cake had to be more creative. I love breaking rules and once I came up with a general idea of what I was going to do I was excited to get started.

1 Hour Pumpkin Costume | Halloween for babies

COLEstumes | DIY Halloween Costumes

Some of my favourite childhood memories are the homemade Halloween costumes my mother used to make. I have five older brothers and two younger sisters so this was no small feat. One year we were a very colourful Chinese dragon complete with a huge paper mache head made out of chicken wire and strips of newspaper, worn by my eldest brother with the rest of us trailing behind in order of height to my little sister bringing up the tail. Another year we were all King Tut, well seven Tuts and one Queen Nefertiti because I refused to wear a boy costume!
