Thanksgiving Bunting

There is an almost overwhelming variety of pumpkins, gourds and faux leaves available everywhere this time of year — grocery stores, farmers’ markets, country farms and craft stores make it pretty easy to buy everything you need to celebrate Thanksgiving. That’s why I wanted something I could make myself — something that looked festive but not overly turkey-cliché. I found it with this sweet little Thanksgiving bunting.

Disco Purse | Sewing

The other night I went to see a band and was faced with a dilemma. How do I carry my phone, money and keys?? I didn’t have a coat because it was too warm. I didn’t want to shove them into my pant pockets, creating unsightly bulges. And I didn’t want to stand there holding them tightly by my sides. I ended up grabbing a bulky purse and looking like “Mom’s Night Out.” And I’m a mom, and proud of it, but I didn’t want to be clutching a cumbersome bag, just like I don’t want to wear “mom” jeans. So, I had to rush to the sewing machine and prepare for next time by making myself a small disco purse, just large enough for those essentials – phone, money, and keys (not necessarily in that order).

Under-the-sink Shelf

In a previous post, I told you about my big bathroom cabinet redo. I was quite proud but, looking under the sink, I realized something was missing. A jumbled mess of junk had collected in the cabinet and I knew, while foraging through the mess, that my life would be so much easier with the addition of a shelf. Time for my next project! Now I just have to tackle my kitchen cabinet.
