At the Pond | 1st BirthDay party

My son’s 1st birthday party was in 2011 and it was my first kid’s party. There were a few babes but mainly family (adults). What kid does not like ducks and frogs? That’s right. No kid. So off to the pond we went.

Invitation
A custom-designed invite but I am sure you can find something suitable for a pond theme off-the-shelf.
Cupcake Toppers
Custom cupcake toppers using elements from the invite set the theme on the carrot cake and chocolate cupcakes.
Paper Flags
And I used again the same design elements to create custom paper flags.
Party Favour Frog Bag:
This awesome party favour bag I found online at Mr Printabless (click the image below for full tutorial and the free downloadable file) and I added our own “party logo” (Liam 1) in the center.
Food & Drinks
A great element to use for the pond theme is plastic ducks. You get them for close to nothing at any dollar store and you insert them in as many party elements as possible. Beer bottles inserted in a green plastic tub with a duck became immediately “themed” and a duck floating on top of the virgin punch screamed “pond”.
Liam’s big sister set to work and created some lovely lily-pad sugar cookies and mini beef tenderloin sliders were decorated with duck flags.
Other Decor
The decor for this party was easy, breezy and very affordable. Some fun, large, frog foil balloons online were only about $3 each and most of the plastic frogs and ducks came from the dollar store. I bought some fun fabric for the table and made my own tablecloth and runner. I already had some fishbowls and decorative white stones, so filled with water and with ducks inserted those little “ponds” were so simple yet such great table decor. Paper plates and napkins all following the bright colour scheme (green, yellow, red, blue) completed the setting.
