Easter Table Setting | Use What You Have

There is probably nothing I find more DIY rewarding then setting a table. People get to enjoy it, it’s not around for too long and it has become a sport for me to use what I have, pulling pieces in from everywhere around the house. This post is not really about creating some special item or project. I am merely sharing how you can pick a colour scheme and create something fun with items you already have. Hopefully it inspires you to get going on your own table setting.

“My Valentine” Gift Bag

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and I always like to get the kids a few treats. I try and keep them away from too much candy the rest of the year, but they get a pass on holidays. I wanted something cute and Valentine-y that could hold a bit of candy and a card, so I grabbed my bottomless bag of felt and whipped up some heart-shaped, monogrammed gift bags.

There are so many amazing Valentine’s Day crafts and ideas out there but, to be honest, it just feels like I was in the thick of the Christmas holidays. Any crafty ideas this time of year need to be satisfying, simple, and pretty speedy to do. These adorable stained glass window cookies not only look cute, but make a great Valentine’s gift or addition to a February lunchbox.

Paper Holiday Wreath

I love decorating for  holidays, but one thing we haven’t had in a while was a Christmas wreath. We used to buy fresh greenery to hang on our door, but I decided this year I’d try something more lasting by crafting my own. I love working with paper, and since our style of door is tricky to hang anything on, something delicate would work just inside our entryway.  Feel free to play with colour and texture: a mix of red and cream poinsettias with green leaves would be lovely, and I used a paper with a slight texture on one side. An all white version like this could even stay up all year.  Despite its availability and relatively low cost, paper can seem like an intimidating medium, but if you choose a sturdy heavier stock like I did, it’s pretty durable and easier to keep for future use.
