Oversized Vintage Frame Art

I’m a big fan of breathing new life into old things. This oversized frame project takes a hideously ornate frame – the kind you often see at thrift stores (or on the curb!) – and creates a beautiful statement piece for your wall. Roundup: Teach Your Kids to Sew

Happy back to school! Fall and learning new things go hand in hand, and I’ve been thinking a lot about what I’d like my kids to learn this year outside of the classroom. Vanilla Simple Syrup Hostess Gift

I don’t know about you, but I often find myself visiting friends or neighbours’ homes and wishing that I had something a little more interesting than wine to offer as a hostess gift. Don’t get me wrong – wine is a wonderful gift. But it’s sometimes nice to show up with something a little different.  And who doesn’t love receiving something sweet (and oh so pretty)?

Although it’s great in cocktails, over ice cream, and with summer berries, vanilla-infused simple syrup also pairs nicely with hot cocoa, coffee and pancakes so this is also a lovely gift leading into Fall and the holidays beyond. Just change up your labels to something festive and you’re set!

Barbie Dollhouse

My 8 year old daughter was “dying” for a Barbie house.  She has had two different ones over the years, but they were not great quality and didn’t last long. I decided to make a sturdy wooden Barbie house that we can keep and hopefully pass on to other kids in our family.
